| Parker's Montana Wind Farm...yes he's on top of one of the windmills! |
Parker worked on the new wind farm in my rural Montana hometown in 2008. At the time, I was living and teaching in Colorado. In July of 2008, I came home to visit for a few weeks. I remember my mom and friend Mandy telling me about this really neat new guy in town. He wore plaid flannel shirts, was tall, dark (and arguably handsome too) and carried a Bible to church-the church that just so happened to be the same church that I grew up in. He also attended the Bible study of my high school mentor and her husband. This guy seemed pretty serious about living out his faith. So, yes, I was interested in getting to know him more. The problem being, we were both in other relationships at that time and living over 1,000 miles apart, so there were no serious intentions. Our paths officially first crossed in church, during the meet and greet time when I shook his hand and his mom's too, who was out for a visit. (If you ask Parker today if he remembers this life-altering moment, the answer will be, "No.") I guess that you could say that neither one of us thought much about it...that is until about 3 years later.
