Spring Break in MN

The week was wonderful!  Parker was so sweet to set up the guest room just for me.  He had flowers, chocolates, my book club book waiting.  His mom, also a teacher, left a gift for me...a childhood favorite book of the boys called The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales.  Parker even read it to me the first night I was there with all the special voices of the characters.

I met Parker's roommate/brother Marshall and his fiancĂ© Kate.  We had a date night together at a fun Italian place downtown.

Parker also took me to lunch at Punch for pizza; it’s his favorite place to eat.   He took off work for a few days and gave me a tour of his office one afternoon.

We drove up to Duluth and walked along Lake Superior.

We also went to Jay Cooke State Park and hiked around the woods in the snow.

I attempted to shovel the heavy snow in Parker’s driveway and met his neighbors.

We went to the nature and science museum and saw the King Tut exhibit, watched the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and also went on lots of walks around the neighborhood and local lakes.  Parker took me to the Mall of America one evening.  He even picked out a sweet green dress for me at H & M.  We made breakfast together every morning (scones, Montana breakfast, huckleberry buckle-Parker ordered me huckleberries online!).
Yummy huckleberry buckle & Parker's delicious coffee...what better way to start the morning?

I also met Parker’s dad, and made him brunch  when he came up for a Celtics/Timberwolves game the day I left.

Nature Boy

An email...
and just a little extra to hopefully make you smile after your CSAPs or seesaps according to the kids...

There was a boy
A very strange enchanted boy
They say he wandered very far, very far
Over land and sea
A little shy
And sad of eye
But very wise
Was he

And then one day
A magic day he came my way
And while we spoke of many things, fools and kings
This he said to me
"The greatest thing
You'll ever learn
Is just to love
And be loved
In return"

(instrumental interlude)

"The greatest thing
You'll ever learn
Is just to love
And be loved
In return"
yours,

park
